Summer Games Fest updated the schedule in the evening to add World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Update. The livestream will start on June 9 at 12 ET / 9am PT. (source)
This is just conjecture: Some of the content not yet available for testing in Shadowlands Alpha — which might be the focus of this livestream:
Castle Nathria (Raid)
June 24 marks the day 76 since Shadowlands Alpha started. It took Battle for Azeroth Alpha 76 days to switch to Beta. It is highly possible we might hear about Closed Beta invitations date or approximate date range. Stay tuned. Follow @blizzplanetcom for more updates as I continue to monitor the Summer Game Fest and IGN Summer of Gaming events’ schedule for any changes.
I got an email from a PR agency associated with Blizzard Entertainment alerting that a Shadowlands Developer Livestream will take place on June 9 at 9am PDT.
On June 9, join World of Warcraft Executive Producer John Hight and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, live from their homes, as they share a look at some of the new content the team has been working on for the forthcoming expansion, Shadowlands.
The stream kicks off at 9:00 a.m. PDT and will be simulcast on the World of Warcraft Twitch and YouTube channels.
On March 12 I posted an article titled Theorycrafting: What if BlizzCon 2020 was Cancelled? — just as the pandemic started to get hold on United States when 1,000 deaths had been reported. In context, two months later, the number has risen to 100,000+ deaths in the USA.
BlizzCon executive producer Saralyn Smith announced there won’t be a BlizzCon 2020. However, her team is studying how to stream online early 2021. Read her message below.
New Shadowlands Alpha build 34490 was deployed (1.48GB). I will update this page as I find new content in Shadowlands. Follow @blizzplanetcom on Twitter for notifications.
I can confirm that the level cap continues to be level 59. There is no level 60 content for testing in build 34490. Only Bastion and Revendreth remain available for testing. Ardenweald and Maldraxxus will be available in a future build.
Death Knight is the new class ready to test Torghast and anima powers.
TREASURE CHEST SYSTEM
There is a new system that seems not complete. It seems there will be a rotation of treasure chests that spawn in a specific zone. At the moment there are no chests when you get there in the map.
Searching this specific chest, I found out there are actually very well hidden caves in Bastion. I had to drop from a cliff to reach this cave that has no other means to get there unless you use a flying mount or drop down from the cliff.
Blizzard Entertainment posted a preview of Oribos — the Eternal City in the middle of the Shadowlands. Oribos is coming to the Shadowlands Alpha test soon. Follow @blizzplanetcom for notifications. Once the new build arrives, I will tweet videos and images of Oribos in more detail.
The Balance Updates mentioned in the recent Developer Update are now on the Warcraft III: Reforged PTR servers available for testing.
The Patch Notes is very extensive covering all changes done to units of each race; as well as changes made to Neutral units like the Beastmaster, Pit Lord, Firelord, Naga Sea Witch, and variety of Blue dragons; Mercenary Camps update across several maps; Items and the new Map Pool Rotation.
There were a few balance bug fixes and a specific user interface change for team-colored healthbars. — source
After BlizzCon 2018, the public knows that Blizzard Entertainment partnered with NetEase to develop Diablo Immortal.
We also know that Cory Stockton — the World of Warcraft developer overseeing Pet Battles — joined a team that is working on a unannounced mobile game. The rumor going around these past years is Warcraft Pets-meets-Pokemon Go. But unproven.
So in short, we know Blizzard Entertainment is working on at least two mobile games (one of them Diablo Immortal, the other one presummably Warcraft-related).
GamesCom 2020 is still alive. The yearly event was cancelled due to the pandemic, but GamesCom 2020 is coming back in a livestream format instead through August 27-30.
This immediately might make you wonder a question. Knowing that Blizzard Entertainment is now attending the IGN Summer of Gaming event livestream… will Blizzard participate in GamesCom 2020’s livestream as well?
