ReedPOP announced tickets for the 2015 New York Comic Con will be on sale on Wednesday, May 13th at 12pm EDT. There will be two other opportunities to get tickets after that date:
- A limited supply of New York Comic Con Tickets will be available for purchase at Special Edition: NYC 2015 on June 6-7. All details can be found here.
- An event at Midtown Comics later this summer. All of the info for this event will be announced at a later date. Note that Midtown Comics is the ONLY Retail partner selling NYCC 2015 Tickets. Don’t miss NYCC 2015, October 8-11, 2015 in the Javits Center in New York City.
Why is NYCC important to Blizzard fans?
I have covered this event in past years since 2009. Helps that I’m local. Back in 2009, Chris Metzen and Micky Neilson came to sign copies of TOKYOPOP StarCraft Frontline manga; and I interviewed them about World of Warcraft: Arthas, Rise of the Lich King. That year DC Comics unveiled a new line up of World of Warcraft action figures and gave away a StarCraft Comics poster.
In 2011, Nate Kenyon signed copies of StarCraft: Ghost–Spectres, and Insight Editions unveiled Diablo III: Book of Cain and the Art of Blizzard.
In 2012, Micky Neilson, Dave Kosak and Michael Stackpole led the Blizzard Publishing Panel (watch our video) where they unveiled the new novel line-up including:
- World of Warcraft: Vol’jin
- StarCraft II: Flashpoint
- World of Warcraft: Dawn of the Aspects
- Diablo III: Darkness Falls, Heroes Rise
That year, Mega Bloks unveiled the World of Warcraft Toymation Teaser and their product line-up based on Warcraft (including Sha of Anger and Chen Stormstout). UDON held a panel where they announced the World of Warcraft Tribute Art Book (panel video here).
Lastly, in 2013 Joseph Lacroix (DC Comics Diablo: Sword of Justice artist) and Doug Alexander (Senior Art Editor in Creative Development at Blizzard Entertainment) signed copies of Diablo III: Book of Tyrael at the Insight Editions booth (photos here).
Micky Neilson signed copies of World of Warcraft: Vol’jin: Shadows of the Horde. I took video of the signing.
Overall, there is always someone from Blizzard Entertainment coming to New York Comic Con, and some of the Blizzard licensed partners come to showcase a new product. It’s always good to come and see what’s new on the block.
My big hope is to see another Blizzard Publishing Panel, considering the one they had in 2012 was a full room; and no novels have been announced since the launch of World of Warcraft: War Crimes. There is no official announcements about one happening this year at NYCC.
I’ll be there to report and share with you any new Blizzard Licensed Products showing up there.
