Tabitha removes the IV needle from her right wrist and opens the closet to remove the hospital gown and replace it with her clothes. Victor’s launch box is among the belongings retrieved from the closet.
Tabitha exits her Patient Room 2225, located on Level 12. She can see Dr. Brody to her right at the end of the hall and closes the door slowly without making a sound. Then turn left toward the Elevator area after making another left turn.
Tabitha exits the St. Anthony’s Hospital building as the police car stops by the entrance, and slowly walks away to avoid suspicion.
She walks uphill along a street with people walking by the sidewalk and cars going up and down the street. Audrey’s Little Shop of Plants is seen in the corner. Tabitha looks across the street, and something unusual happens. She sees the Boy in White standing there and smiling at her. He waves his hand.
<It is unusual because she is in the real world. This raises a few questions: How exactly can the Boy in White make himself visible to her in the real world? Can he move freely between the pocket dimension and the real world? Is mind-projection all he can do or more?>
Tabitha shouts at the Boy in White and crosses the street without precaution, almost causing a car to drive her through. The driver pushes the brakes hard and yells at Tabitha: “Hey! Look where you’re going!”
Tabitha is disoriented looking back and forth for any signs of the Boy in White. She is walking along the side of the street where the Boy in White stood moments before. She sees a shop sign on the street: “New Spring Arrivals @ daisyJosboutique but her eyes shift between the women walking in front of her. She can see the back of the Boy in White walking further ahead. Then enters a Creperie shop (Pancakes in French).
Tabitha grabs the kid’s left shoulder and asks: “What do you mean it’s the only way?”
The kid turns around, and it is not the Boy in White.
A woman turns around and asks Tabitha why she is touching the kid. “What is wrong with you?”
Tabitha apologizes and leaves the shop.
2 — Boyd rinses a hand towel and continues to wash 5 shotgun perforations on his arm near his left shoulder. He attempts to patch his injury with a large gauze pad.
Boyd hears Father Khatri who asks if Kristi shouldn’t be doing that. Boyd responds Kristi is busy taking care of her fiancé Marielle. Father Khatri asks about the condition of Randall, Marielle, and Julie. Boyd describes them as fine.
Father Khatri doubts that “Fine” is a proper term after what the three of them experienced. Someone tried to kill Boyd 3 days ago, and half the town is still afraid to go to sleep. Food shortage without a solution. It is also getting pretty cold outside.
Boyd says they will be fine. They have blankets. Boyd then changes the subject to what happened in the Tower chamber. That thing telling him that the monsters fed on hope were not his wife Abby. Boyd wonders then… what is this thing he talks to that looks like Father Khatri?
Father Khatri responds he can’t answer that for him.
3 — Boyd is interrupted by a commotion outside the Sheriff’s station. Tian Chen pulls Ethan by his left arm and Ethan continuously asks her to let him go. She replies in Cantonese.
Jim hears his voice and runs toward Ethan and Tian Chen. Jim says they have been looking for him everywhere.
Boyd exits the Sheriff’s station and finishes to put his jacket.
Ethan yells at Victor about why he told his parents. Ethan demands his Dad that they must search for his Mom, they can’t just leave her out there.
Jim asks Ethan to go inside Kenny’s house. Julie arrives and walks away from Jim. Julie leaves but turns around and tells Jim none of this is his fault.
4 — Inside Kenny’s house, Jim is packing supplies. Boyd tells Jim he shouldn’t do this. Jim says he should never have left Tabitha to go in search of the Lighthouse and the children’s spirits. Boyd insists he can’t be in the woods overnight.
Jim says Ethan tried to run away so that he could go look for his Mom. Julie is still refusing to talk about what happened when she was catatonic. His kids need her Mom. What else is he supposed to do other than to go into the woods to search for her? Jim tells Boyd that he will keep the talisman in the tent.
Boyd tries to prevent Jim from going into the woods by telling him that Boyd and Sara tried that and their tent was dragged by something. Jim says well, you came back. Boyd says by the skin of his teeth. Jim won’t be stopped. Boyd says the odds that she is still alive– Jim interrupts and commands Boyd not to dare finish that sentence.
Kenny arrives at his house and finds Boyd and Jim in a heated discussion. Boyd tells Jim there might be a safer way to go into the woods in search of Tabitha.
5 — In the Colony House, Fatima has been nigh an hour in the bathroom, vomiting. A woman named Nicky keeps knocking at the bathroom door complaining she can’t wait any longer.
Nicky complains Fatima has been taking double rations of food and now she is also hogging the bathroom. Clara asks Nicky to back off. Ellis asks what’s the problem. Nicky responds the problem is that she’s about to piss on the floor.
Ellis escorts Fatima back to their bedroom. Ellis wants to make sure that Fatima eats something. She is not feeling well and her stomach hurts. Fatima leaves toward the bedroom.
Tillie walks to Ellis and tells him not to worry. This is how it goes for pregnant women in the first couple of months.
Donna asks Ellis to follow her outside to aid her. They have already lost half their crops to the storm. She doesn’t want to lose their remaining crops hoping the ground doesn’t freeze. Elgin walks past them. Donna asks Ellis if Elgin has slept at all. He doesn’t know. Donna says they have better things to worry about.
Donna asks Ellis to round up a few people and meet her out at the field.
6 — Boyd tells Jim the day he and Sara found the lighthouse in the woods, they started out at the little stone hut where Boyd found the talismans. They were also in a tent that got dragged by something with them inside. So Boyd doesn’t know exactly the location of the lighthouse, but if Jim starts his search from that stone hut — it might be easier to find the lighthouse than just going blind into the woods.
Boyd tells Jim that he must find shelter at night in a place where he can survive. Kenny asks if Boyd and Sara made camp at the stone hut. Boyd confirms. Kenny volunteers to accompany Jim. Boyd asks Kenny to talk outside the house.
Kenny stops Boyd from starting his talk. Kenny won’t let Jim out there alone. He just lost a parent. He won’t let Julie and Ethan become orphans, losing both parents in the same week. They can’t play defense forever.
7 — Something is thrown out breaking a window in a nearby house. Boyd and Kenny are startled. Boyd grabs hold of his gun and approaches Tom’s Bar (the former Gas Station).
Jade is muttering some words about the children’s spirits and the symbol. Boyd and Kenny see this blockade of strings inside Tom’s Bar.
Jade is drunk. The strings are arranged in a way that mimics vaguely the symbol he sees in his visions and in Cristopher’s notebook. Boyd asks Kenny if he knows about Jade’s mental state. He is deteriorated, long beard, drunk.
Jade mutters: “They’re trying to show me. I can’t… I can’t see it.” Kenny tells Boyd that he knew that Jade was obsessed with that drawing, but this scene with the strings is insane.
Kenny volunteers to patch up the broken window, but Boyd asks his help to drag Jade back to the Sheriff’s station to sleep off his drunk state.
8 — In the real world, Tabitha walks across the street and finds a Vintage pop-up sale and a hot dog cart.
Two young girls are looking at some of the sale stuff and taking selfies. Tabitha asks one of them to borrow her cellphone.
Tabitha calls her Mom over the phone and tells her they are all okay. Her Mom wants to know where they have been. The police have been looking for them. They have been so worried. Tabitha responds she just wanted to hear her voice and vice versa. “Mom, I love you so much, and I miss you and… Jim and I are doing everything we can to come back home soon.”
Tabitha’s Mom asks her to stay on the phone. A police detective gave her a card. Tabitha says she won’t hear from them for a little bit while. Her Mom protests and asks her not to hang up. Tabitha cuts her off and hangs up after saying they are okay and they will meet soon.
Tabitha thanks the two young women and returns the cellphone. One of them scolds the other one for borrowing the cellphone. That she seriously needs to disinfect it now.
Tabitha slowly walks away, disoriented and thoughtful. Suddenly, she hears the bell tolling of a nearby church.
9 — Kristi and Kenny walk into the Diner. She asks Kenny when she plans to leave into the woods with Jim. Kenny says his Mom, Tian Chen Liu, insisted on putting together rations for their journey. Tian Chen brings a heavy box with supplies. Kenny complains it is way too much. She responds in Cantonese she doesn’t want them to be hungry while they are gone. To promise they will be back and well. She can’t lose her son, too.
Kenny reassures they will be fine. They worry too much.
10 — At Kenny’s house, Ethan is putting a 500-piece puzzle together. Two-thirds completed. Ethan asks his Dad, Jim if he is really going to search for his Mom, Tabitha.
Jim responds he will try, but he can’t do that if he is worrying that things are not okay back here. He asks Ethan no more run off alone. Ethan promises and shakes hands with Jim. Julie sneaks into them hugging and asks Jim to promise he will be careful.
11 — Outside Kenny’s house, Boyd tells Kenny that once they find spiderwebs, he will know they are in the right direction and to make sure they get back to the stone hut by dark. Kenny and Jim leave together to start their journey toward the stone hut, deep in the woods.
12 — Ellis runs and intercepts Boyd standing outside Kenny’s house. He asks Boyd to come to the Colony House’s fields.
13 — At the fields, the volunteers find the remaining crops that survived the storm are now rotten: carrots, beets, and potatoes. Donna informs Boyd they are out of food. They only have what they got at the Colony House. Once that runs out, they have nothing growing to replace that. Boyd asks how many people he brought to help in the fields that might spread the word and create a collective panic.
14 — Outside Kenny’s house, a bunch of people want to raid Kenny’s basement for food supplies. Tian Chen receives them outside her house to listen to their arguments. A Colony House resident says all they have to eat is in those jars in the Diner’s basement. Tian Chen says those food supplies are for everybody. More food is coming from the field crops. The residents say Tian Chen doesn’t know what she’s talking about. The whole crop is rotten. What’s in the basement is all the food they have now.
15 — At the Barn, Randall pulls the cord tied to a goat’s collar. Ethan, who is in the Barn with Victor, asks Randall what he is doing. Randall responds Ethan doesn’t know but the shit just hit the fan. Victor tries to stop Randall from taking the goat. He threatens Victor with a beat-up if he tries to stop him. Ellis arrives and asks what the problem is. Victor pulls a gun and aims it at Randall.
Boyd arrives and asks Victor to stop aiming the gun at Randall.
Boyd convinces Victor to stand down and hand him the gun. Randall asks if he can take away his goat. Boyd says the animals are off-limits. Randall says these animals are the only food that they have.
Boyd says these animals provide eggs and milk. A resource and they are running low on those. He understands they are hungry and this crop rot is a setback, but they are all in this together. They can still search for more resources, but they have to handle their current supplies carefully until then. “This place will not break us! The only way we go home… is together. So give us time to figure it out.”
Boyd extends his hand toward Randall and asks him to hand him the goat’s rope. Randall reluctantly gives up the rope to Boyd, muttering some words on his way out. Ethan takes the goat named Alma back to the Barn.
16 — In the woods, Jim thanks Kenny for coming along with him. Kenny responds he doesn’t have to thank him. Suddenly, they stand in front of some kind of effigy made of wood, branches, and moss. They study the area and find more effigies standing as scarecrows to warn anyone from coming through. Jim and Kenny discover an old settlement with at least 3 houses made of wood and tall chimneys made of small rocks.
Both explore the settlement cautiously. Kenny draws his gun for precaution. Kenny tells Jim they should go back to the stone hut to take shelter. Dark is coming soon.
Jim says these houses look very solid. They could just place the talisman at the door and take shelter here and start their search for Tabitha in the morning from this place. Jim argues what is the difference. They should be safe here.
Kenny says they were told when spiderwebs are found then they are heading in the right direction toward the lighthouse. Boyd didn’t say anything about weird statues and– Jim interrupts Kenny. Maybe Boyd’s tent got dragged past all this stuff and that’s why Boyd didn’t see any of this. Kenny agrees to stay in this place for the night, but first, they should look around to make sure there are no surprises lurking around.

17 — In the real world, Tabitha sits in the church and tells a Priest it is been a long time since her last confession. The priest says she’s here now and that’s what matters. She says she needed to talk to someone. She can’t reveal her name and talk to anyone or they will think that she is crazy. She doesn’t know how she got here. Nothing that she’s been through is possible. She feels she is losing her mind.
The priest starts talking about the Lord, but she asks him not to do that. She didn’t come here to talk about him, because if he is real, then he created that horrible place. All the pain and suffering. Who let her baby Thomas fall off the changing table. Tabitha starts to sob and tells the priest sorry, this was a mistake.
The priest comes out of the confessional and goes after Tabitha.
The priest asks what her baby’s name is and responds that’s a good name. Then asks whether she has more children. Tabitha is confused. How did he know? The priest looks at her and points to the lunch box. Tabitha says the lunch box belongs to a man named Victor. He fixed her a snack before she left. The priest asks where. Tabitha responds from a place where monsters come out at night. A place that no one can leave.
She tells him she went through a tree that took her to a lighthouse, and then a little boy pushed her out saying: “This is the only way.” The only way to what? She doesn’t know. She has no clue what she is supposed to do here or where to go. Her family is trapped in a terrifying place and she has no idea how to get back to them.
The priest looks at Tabitha with no surprise at such a story and simply asks: “What kind of snack did Victor make?” (possibly thinks it is mushroom gummies or MJ gummies)
Tabitha responds he might think she’s crazy. The priest responds he believes she is in pain and he’d like to help if he can. The priest wants her to open the lunch box to find out what Victor made for her.
She looks at its contents and says that Victor is still such a boy and wonders how it would have been for him to grow up alone in a place like that. She removes what looks like food wrapped with one of his drawings and tied with a thread, plus a thermos flask.
On the bottom of the lunch box, Tabitha discovers a postal address in Camden, Maine.
Tabitha realizes the Boy in White sent her here to Camden, Maine for a reason. That reason is to find Victor’s home nearby. She tells the priest she knows where to go and thanks him.
18 — At the Colony House, Elgin is falling asleep. His eyes grow heavy and close. Tillie tells Elgin he really needs to get some rest. That Boyd said it was ok for everyone to go to sleep.
Elgin says it is not that. He feels there is something watching him. He wakes up and he can never remember. Tillie turns her eyes past Elgin and asks him if that’s her. She looks scary. It’s a mummified woman wearing some kind of kimono gown.
The mummified woman grabs Elgin’s face. Elgin wakes up from his dream. The spirit is no longer there. Tillie is not sitting next to him. It was simply a dream.
19 — In Kenny’s house, Boyd asks Donna and Tian Chen what they have left in terms of rations. Donna says what little rations they had walked out the door in a panic when the rioters raided Kenny’s basement. Boyd suggested they take what they stole back. Donna doesn’t think they will ever get most of it back, and even if they did, those rations aren’t enough to survive until the next crop.
Boyd wants to figure out whether they can survive on eggs and milk until they harvest a new crop. Donna says the soil is poisoned.
Tian Chen suggests they should plant a smaller crop. Different places. Different soil.
Boyd listens intently and asks whether they can survive 3 months of eating eggs and milk until a new crop is harvested. Donna says if they slaughter the cows one at a time, they could last rations for at least a month. Boyd asks Donna how about the goats. How long would their meat rations last? Tian Chen looks toward the door and gasps. Ethan heard Boyd. Ethan loves the goat named Alma. Boyd calls out Ethan’s name, but the boy leaves the house.
20 — Boyd walks out the door after Ethan. Sitting on the Merry-Go-Around, Ethan responds to Boyd with a Hey. Boyd asks if he heard them talking. Ethan acknowledges they need to kill the animals to feed the town. Ethan asks if they can find another way to feed. Boyd wishes they could, but those animals will save them from starvation until they can figure out this rotten crop setback. The animals will be heroes.
Ethan asks Boyd if Alma the goat can die first so that she doesn’t have to watch her friends die.
21 — In the real world, Tabitha finds Victor’s house at 1597 Burrow Street, Camden, Maine. A car parks nearby and Victor’s father, Henry, looks at Tabitha and gets angry. He’s not in the mood. Get the hell out of here. You Deaf?
That’s when Henry looks at the lunch box in her hands and he goes mute for a few seconds. Henry asks Tabitha where she got that lunch box.
Tabitha says, surprised, that he is Victor’s father.
22 — In the woods, Jim and Kenny are sheltered in one of the small cabins at the old settlement they discovered. They use the chimney to light up the fireplace. Even if Boyd’s tent had been dragged through this old settlement and that’s the reason Boyd didn’t see the settlement — Jim studies Boyd’s words. They would see spiderwebs on the trees everywhere. Jim determines they might be heading in the wrong direction as they have not yet seen any spiderwebs.
Jim suggests getting to high ground to see if they can get the lay of the land for directions to find the spiderweb forest. Suddenly, Jim and Kenny hear the breaking of branches on the ground. Something is walking outside the cabin.
Something hits the wall hard. Kenny touches the talisman hoping to repel whatever is out there from breaching into the cabin. The noises stop.
Jim wonders if he should be out here in the woods searching for Tabitha. She meant for him to stay behind in case something happened to her so that their kids could have the support of Jim if something happened to her. Jim resolves that she wouldn’t want him out here in the woods risking his life for her. He tells Kenny they will head back home first thing in the morning.
23 — In the town, the monsters open the Barn and stable doors to let the animals wander away.
24 — In the Sheriff’s station, Boyd serves a drink in his glass. His right-hand shakes due to his Parkinson’s disease. He looks at the map with pins on the wall. Jade wakes up from his drunk sleep. Boyd offers Jade some of his alcohol bottle. Jade smiles and says he’s been holding out on him.
Jade asks where Boyd got this bottle from. Boyd responds Father Khatri buried a bag in the ground that contained a bloody shirt, a bottle, and a candy bar.
Boyd asks what’s going on with Jade. He responds not yet. He’s still working it out.
Boyd hears sounds outside and looks through the window blinds. The cows are walking along the road. Boyd takes the talisman and opens the door to go after the cows. Jade follows behind. Both grab the rope to pull both cows back to the barn in the night. The sheep and goats run along the road as well.
25 — Victor and Tian Chen leave the house to go after the sheep and goats. Tian Chen asks Ethan and Julie to close the door behind them. Boyd asks both of them to take the sheep and goats to their house. He and Jade will take the larger animals back to the barn.
26 — Randall wakes up inside the bus and looks outside the windows to investigate what the turmoil is about.
Randall sees four monsters approaching Kenny’s house and blares the bus’s klaxon to alert them of the danger.
27 –Ethan hears the klaxon and looks out the window. He sees the goat named Alma walking on the road. He alerts Julie that Alma is outside and heads to the door. Julie couldn’t reach Ethan in time. The old lady monster is at the door when he opens it. Julie tries to force the door shut, but the old lady prevents the door from closing. Julie asks Ethan to run further inside the house to exit through the back door.
The old lady mocks them: “Don’t you want to play? I have a surprise for you. (Snarls)”
As Julie and Ethan exit through the backdoor, someone grabs Ethan from behind and holds his mouth shut. Julie startles and looks at Sara who shushes at her and points to the direction to run to, hiding behind bushes.
28 — Boyd and Jade pull the cows further down the road toward the barn. Tian Chen and Victor are behind Jade with the sheep and goats. They reach the Gas Station (Tom’s Bar).
Jade shouts at Boyd. The monsters are 10 yards from Jade and walking toward him. Jade shields himself behind the cow, but the monster slashes the cow’s throat to get it out of the way to reach Jade.
Jade is in shock at how easily the monster killed the cow. Victor runs toward Jade and pulls him to safety. The monster howls loudly.
29 — Sara, Julie, and Ethan hide silently behind the bushes. The old lady monster exits the house through the backdoor. Screeches are heard in the distance. The old lady monster searches the nearby shed. A second monster in a cheerleader outfit approaches the area searching for victims.
Sara orders Julie and Ethan to follow and run into the road. Randall sees them from the bus and opens the door to shout at them to come to the bus.
The remaining monsters walk toward Boyd, Jade, Victor, and Tian Chen in pursuit as they try to take the animals back to the barn.
The monsters are too close. Jade and Victor decide to take the sheep and goats inside the Gas Station (Tom’s Bar).
Tian Chen moves toward Boyd to push the cow toward the barn. Boyd asks her to leave to safety with the others but she refuses. “No. We do together. Come on.”
Boyd closes the barn and places the talisman on the door.
Four of the monsters were already inside the barn before Boyd and Tian Chen entered the barn. One of the monsters says: “You said this place couldn’t break you. Do you remember that, Boyd? You don’t fucking break me — that’s what you said.”
Two of the monsters grab Tian Chen. The other ones try to hold Boyd, but he pushes one of them away. That monster gets angry and transforms back into his monster-self and slashes at Boyd’s shoulder, hurting him. Boyd falls to the ground and is grabbed by two of the monsters back to his feet.
Three of the monsters secure Boyd, and the one who slashes at him grabs his cuffs and places them around Boyd’s hands to trap him in a nearby Barn pillar.
The other three monsters take hold of Tian Chen.
Boyd asks them to kill him but to let Tian Chen go.
One of the monsters, the Sheriff, says “We don’t want to kill you, Boyd. That would be no fun. You think this place can’t break you? Let’s see.”
Tian Chen says something in Cantonese to Boyd.
One of the monsters pulls a strand of hair from the back of Tian Chen’s head, exposing the back of her brain. Tian Chen screams in agony.
The monsters continue to rip Tian Chen apart in front of Boyd and make him look. Boyd repeats over and over: “I know! I know! You are strong. Look at me. Open your eyes.”
Tian Chen screams and sobs. She keeps repeating the same words in Cantonese.
