The World of Warcraft: The War Within 11.1.7 introduced the new Rise of the Red Dawn questline where Danath Trollbane, Faerin Lothar, and Overlord Geya’rah travel together to the Arathi Highlands to investigate reports of disappearances, deaths, and kidnappings that might very well set off another war between the Alliance and the Horde, as the Red Dawn plans to frame each side.
The Red Dawn is a new faction that has come together from different known enemies of the Alliance. This new faction is a dangerous one with racial supremacy fueling their hatred for Dwarves and Elves in people around the land. The citizens of Arathi Highlands feel abandoned by Danath Trollbane who left for Khaz Algar to a war no one wanted to partake in. The Red Dawn is taking advantage of that to recruit them into their fold.
It looks like the breadcrumbs leading up to The Last Titan expansion where Elves of every faction are welcome together in Quel’Thalas. If the Red Dawn continues to reverberate throughout Midnight and The Last Titan, Dwarves and Elves are in danger.
Speculation: This might very well be post-Shadowlands Dreadlords igniting hatred like what happened in Warcraft III which led the human Grand Marshal Othmar Garithos to push Kael’Thas Sunstrider and the remaining High Elves to leave the Alliance. On the other hand, it could simply be Occam’s Razor … human hatred without Dreadlord intervention.
