X-Men ’97 Season 2 will trigger Blizzard Entertainment Gamers

Disney+ will air X-Men ’97 Season 2 on July 1, 2026. A TV series based on the original 90s cartoons that goes an extra mile. In Season 1 (2023), the show ended with two groups of X-Men scattered across time, landing in ancient Egypt (circa 4,000 B.C.) and the far future (circa 40th Century). Basically, Disney is exploring the rise and fall of Apocalypse, touching several comics plots across the last 30 years such as Rise of Apocalypse (1996-1997 limited-series comics), Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix (1994 limited series comics).

Gambit was hinted at in the season 1 finale to become the Death horseman of Apocalypse. If it happens, that’s playbook from the “Blood of Apocalypse” storyline that ran through X-Men (Vol. 2) # 182-184. The robotic entity in the trailer is “Danger” the embodiment of X-Mansion Danger Room’s sentient AI, now in a robotic body. Danger first appeared in Astonishing X-Men (Vol. 3) #9 in 2005.

The trailer even shows Cyclops and Jean Grey in the Grant Morrison era (2001)’s suits through New X-Men #114-126 — introduced during the “E for Extinction” storyline with Cassandra Nova (Xavier’s alien twin sister). Even Sunspot (Robert DaCosta) of the New Mutants is shown in the trailer. Lots of plotlines this season, and hints for what might come in Season 3.

Anyway, enough fanboy-drooling talk. Most people reading this don’t have a clue what that’s all about. Down to the basics. If out of nostalgia for the 90s cartoons or just out of curiosity, you watch the new season, X-Men ’97 Season 2 will trigger Blizzard Entertainment gamers really hard. “Wait… did I hear right? That voice sounds familiar. Where have I heard that voice before?“
