In Reddit, LonelySuccotash3948 claims to have participated in the WoW Secret Finding (Discord), helping to solve the puzzle to discover the Baal pet and Hivemind mount.
He claims that the StarCraft ARG’s redacted names that provide one or two letters and leave others with quantitative blank spaces are a puzzle. The ARG hasn’t been localized in different languages. This caught his attention because if that’s by design, they want you to solve the blank spaces. The one redacted name that is recognized immediately is S. K with 7 blank spaces (Sarah K[errigan]).
Therefore, Sarah Kerrigan is the key to uncovering the remaining redacted characters. What is a property of the Queen of Blades? Break her wing, and she grows it back to replace the lost limb. Keyword: Transformation.
LonelySuccotash3948 used “transformation” as a rule to research the other redacted names. I’m not totally on that boat, but the pop culture characters that have a transformation quality certainly fit the redacted names’ blank spaces.
He didn’t provide any images, but I put together some images and filled the blanks with his alleged solved puzzles.
In short, the whole point of the StarCraft ARG seems to be teasing one specific keyword: CHANGELING.
Why is the keyword Changeling relevant or important? Well, the ARG also mentions the location ROXARA.
The only places in StarCraft media where that Roxara location is mentioned are in the manga Tokyopop StarCraft: Frontlines Vol. 4, short story: FEAR THE REAPER; and also in a short story by James Waugh titled… /drumroll … Changeling (read the story). The story takes place in the year 2503 (according to the timeline in StarCraft: War Stories).
Damn, if this StarCraft ARG is really trying to highlight the CHANGELING story, then maybe there might be a clue in the James Waugh story? I re-read it:
The story has 5 members of the Zeta Squad wearing the heavy CMC-300 power armor: Brody, Hendrix, Jenkins, Sergeant Walden Briggs, and Wynne.
They are patrolling the backbones of a construction site in Roxara, a barren moon-mining colony. Obviously, the same facility in the ARG.
Their mission was to explore the mining cavern at Binion’s Point to make sure there were no Kel-Morian agents wiring nuclear devices to sabotage their operation.
Is the clue that this is a 5-player co-op and/or 5v5 multiplayer? /shrugs
The story resembles more or less what’s going on in the ARG:
“Hendrix ain’t Hendrix. We just finished poker when we caught him down there in the operations room, scanning for security codes.”
In the “Changeling” short story, Hendrix is a changeling who seems to have his memories to access the computer in search for security codes. The ARG hints at a changeling attempting to bypass security clearance.
“Hand over your pistol, Sergeant; we just want to ask you some questions about your experience,” the scientist said, putting out his hand. “We need to know all we can about these changelings. They can take on the appearance of our soldiers and infiltrate our institutions. They even send out psionic impressions leading our troops to believe that everything is up to snuff. This is a very dangerous enemy, don’t you think? One we need to know all about in order to ensure the Dominion’s safety. Your records indicate extreme loyalty…. It was one of the reasons why you – Zeta Squad – were chosen. Now please, the gun.”
There are two more days remaining before BlizzCon 2026 begins on September 12. It is unknown if the ARG is filled with puzzles yet to be discovered. We have heard speculation about a StarCraft shooter that is not a Destiny 2 MMO — likely led by former FarCry 3-6 executive producer Dan Hay; we have heard speculation on a second game, possibly an RTS by Nexon or even Relic Entertainment (Age of Empires); but I would laugh really hard if this StarCraft ARG was an incubation mobile StarCraft game like “Among Us” where you have to find who is the Changeling.
