Blizzard Entertainment announced the next chapter in World of Warcraft: Midnight coming in Patch 12.2 is ECLIPSE. Xal’atath has reached the world core.
World of Warcraft: Midnight 12.2: Eclipse
Since the start of the Worldsoul Saga™, the Harbinger of the Void, Xal’atath, has been on a campaign against the forces of the Light, gaining allies, building her power, and with the events of the March on Quel’Danas, escaped through the Darkwell to an unknown destination along with hordes of her Devouring Host.
Until now, her motivations, her goals, and her destination have been closely guarded. As events unfold in Eclipse, the last major content update for World of Warcraft®: Midnight™ (12.2), Xal’atath’s sights are clear: Azeroth’s Worldsoul.
The champions of Azeroth will need to return to the depths of the world and battle their way through a new zone, The Mantle Vault, an ancient place of Titan origin sealed off for thousands of years. It is here they must confront Xal’atath once and for all before she enacts her plans to “become one” with the Worldsoul contained at the center of the Worldcore.
But as Azeroth’s champions close in on Xal’atath, it becomes clear that a much larger and older mystery unfolds about the land, its denizens, and Azeroth itself and begs the question, will defeating Xal’atath be enough, or will it signal a much larger threat?
- THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN WITH XAL’ATATH AWAITS – The Mantle Vault serves at the backdrop of Eclipse located deep within the core of Azeroth. Players will explore the lands, confront local enemies that will include a new lair, The Gearhold, and earn rewards on a new faction renown track with the Radiant Core. As Xal’atath moves toward her goal of becoming one with the worldsoul, Radiant Screams will trigger zone-wide events for flexible group sizes and offer unique rewards.
- SAVE AZEROTH IN THE WORLDCORE – The Worldcore is a new 8-boss raid where players will need to carve a path to the center to save Azeroth’s worldsoul. It is here they will confront Xal’atath after fighting through her most powerful lieutenants as well as the Worldcore’s defenses.
- SEASON 3 MYTHIC+ BRINGS A FRESH DUNGEON POOL – A new 3-boss dungeon, Thraegar’s Stand, will provide players with updated gear rewards and joins seven other dungeons for season 3’s Mythic+ dungeon pool. Those dungeons include: Magister’s Terrace and Maisara Cavern from Midnight and legacy dungeons The Underrot (Battle for Azeroth), Iron Docks (Warlords of Draenor), Sanguine Depths (Shadowlands), The Stonecore (Cataclysm), and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr (Dragonflight).
- CONFRONT A FAMILIAR FOE IN DELVES SEASON 3 – Throughout Midnight, Astalor Bloodsworn has been doling out assignments to the Champions of Azeroth by way of the Prey system, seeking to confront powerful foes to help save Azeroth – through “alternative measures” – and wielding their anguish as a source of power. But it seems that anguish has clouded Astalor’s mind, and players will need to confront him as he taunts from the shadows as the Season 3 delve nemesis.
- WIELD THE POWER OF THE VOID – Eclipse introduces the Worldsoul Saga’s first legendary weapon, Midnight’s Edge, a caster dagger that will be unlocked with an equally legendary questline that begins with conquering the Worldcore raid.
- NEW PALADINS JOIN THE FRAY – Three new races embrace the power of the Light and join their respective Paladin orders. Discover a different path of Light as a Night Elf Paladin; reclaim the legacy of Lordaeron’s guardians as a Forsaken Paladin; or, join the light-wielding trolls as a Darkspear Paladin.
