HTC Evo 4G Phone and World of Warcraft Stream Replay
Eldorian offered a rundown tutorial on how to setup your HTC Evo 4G phone to turn into a WiFi hotspot to access the internet. You can setup your laptop or computer to access the Evo 4G phone as your internet connection.
What this means is that you can play World of Warcraft anywhere at anytime. Pretty handy when you are traveling. No need to go find a hotspot, or buy satellite USB cards, or the hassle of finding a hotel that has internet. Your cell phone is your internet connection with 3.6MB/s download and 1MB/s upload.
After the short, and straightforward tutorial, you can see Eldorian doing two things at once with the HTC Evo 4G: Playing a World of Warcraft 5-man random heroic dungeon and broadcasting live via Ustream using the HTC Evo 4G.
This stress test using the HTC Evo 4G to multi-task two functions at once let him play World of Warcraft at around 400-700ms latency. Without the broadcasting, latency can be around 250ms which is normal and acceptable. In Dalaran, it was 260ms latency during the live broadcast.
The awesome news for all our visitors is that we don’t need to use the Anaheim Convention Center’s WiFi internet connection to broadcast video. The HTC Evo 4G will be our own on-the-go WiFi hotspot.
