Two weeks ago, Ion Hazzikostas held a livestream to discuss details of the upcoming World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.1 content. It was mostly a mini-panel. Below, I share with you our transcript of that livestream as a reference. The transcript was outsourced, same as the upcoming BlizzCon 2018 panel transcripts will be. Ion: Hey, everybody. Thank you for tuning in and joining us for this livestream today. So, slightly different format. You may notice Josh isn’t up here with me. This isn’t a Q&A like the usual format. We still have a lot to talk about our ongoing conversation about things that are going in the live game, plan changes, upcoming tuning, a wide range of issues that’s going to continue in a lot of different formats. Whether it’s on our forums, social media or streams like this.

Today, however, I’m excited to talk about what’s coming next in Battle for Azeroth content-wise. So far, we have had Horde and Alliance that kicked off this expansion just over a month ago with massive massive battles, massive war.

And Alliance really suffered a number of heavy losses throughout that process. Of course, the tree of Teldrassil was burned down, they thought they had the upper hand at the Battle of Lordaeron on the Undercity, but victory was snatched — sorry, defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory. As you know, the Horde left the city in ruins behind them.

And recently, the Horde is making incursions into Arathi Highlands and so forth. Now it’s time, however, for the Alliance to strike back; and so, we had this initial war that broke out, and since then we’ve moved on: to “Kultiras” / to “Zandalar”… in search of new allies.

And a lot of what we’ve been doing recently is working with Jaina, working with Talanji, working with the new friends that we’ve made, the folks that we’ve met; and for some, that larger conflict in the Horde and the Alliance– unless you are playing in war mode, may feel a bit more removed, a bit more distant; because we’ve been solving the problems with blood trolls and sethrak, and the drust, and the minions of Queen Azshara, and so forth.

TIDES OF VENGEANCE

But that’s all about to change. So I’m excited to announce the first major content update for Battle for Azeroth: Tides of Vengeance. I want to talk about what exactly this is going to entail, what you can expect. So first off, we have a lot of just core quests-driven, story-driven content in our outdoor world and elsewhere.

The war campaign will, of course, continue; we’re going to have additional Chapters that continue to tell the story of the Alliance build up / the Horde build up; and as having laid out their initial plans that now make more heavy inroads into enemy territory and really look to undermine the opposition.
