GAPP to Announce NetEase Punishment in Mid-January 2010

The Shangai Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication informed they have received self-criticism from Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) and determined that GAPP should decide its fate because World of Warcraft is considered an overseas game.

Netease was already in contact with GAPP before reaching the Shangai bureau, so it is unlikely the game will be shut down. However, and much better a resolution, NetEase might face some kind of fine penalty. No decision has been reached yet, but according to Sohu — GAPP will announce a punishment in mid-January.

Stay tuned to the next chapter of this long-lasting soap opera.
