GamesCom 2020 is still alive. The yearly event was cancelled due to the pandemic, but GamesCom 2020 is coming back in a livestream format instead through August 27-30.

This immediately might make you wonder a question. Knowing that Blizzard Entertainment is now attending the IGN Summer of Gaming event livestream… will Blizzard participate in GamesCom 2020’s livestream as well?

So far Blizzard has the following games in the pipeline, and we don’t even know if there is going to be a BlizzCon 2020 at the Anaheim Convention Center due to the long-term pandemic alert, or whether they might instead go the livestream route — so in the meantime, they might need other venues to announce these:

  • World of Warcraft: Shadowlands end-game
  • Diablo Immortal Beta starts mid-2020
  • Hearthstone: What’s Next
  • Overwatch 2 update?
  • Heroes of the Storm: What’s Next
  • Diablo IV quaterly update expected late June and October
  • Rumor… Diablo II: Resurrected?

Blizzard has missed a few GamesCom events in the past 10 years, but they have unveiled cinematics, new games, and even the Diablo III on Consoles reveal at GamesCom.

With such a development pipeline it is difficult not to consider that Blizzard might jump on the GamesCom livestream wagon, but there is precedent they haven’t in the past. So it’s a toss of the coin whether yes or no.

All we can do for now is join the waiting game.
