Upgrading your Artifact

Craig: Now you have had your artifact in hand for a while, and you will eventually once you reach max level 110 in Legion … you will reach a moment when you can upgrade it. You will undergo a questline involving some outdoor content, interacting with some of the major factions of Legion, and some dungeon content culminating in this major upgrade moment.

Craig: At this moment, you will unlock an additional relic slot to your weapon, further increasing the specialization options available to you; but you also unlock a new model for your weapon as well.

In the case of the Deadwind Harvester this is what the upgraded model looks like.

Craig: Even past that, there are more questlines you are going to be able to tap into specializing different types of content that will give you access to other models for your weapon over time.

Craig: The Deadwind Harvester — there are a few more that you can see up here, and even beyond that (these models) we also have many different colors you can unlock for each model based off the same type of content that you focus on originally.

You can see here the interface for some of those color swap might look like for the Deadwind Harvester. This come in the form of — more like achievements. Finish all the questing zones. Or exalted with certain factions in the expansion that might unlock certain colors.

Craig: But they also tap into aspects of the artifact’s history as well. There might be a specific color that is unlocked by slaying a villain who previously killed the owner of the artifact before you did. Or going to locations in the world that are significant to your weapon specificly.

That’s a pretty good overview of Artifact Systems. There is a lot of things that we haven’t talked about here specificly when it comes to the personality of the individual weapons, and how you are going to feel them in the world, but I have talked a lot about the Deadwind Harvester.
