In my quest to find out the correct spelling of Flint Dille’s name and to learn who he is I stumbled upon something I really never thought seeing. Blizzard Entertainment SVP of Creative Development Chris Metzen is to be the co-writer of IDW The Transformers: Autocracy — a bi-weekly 8-pages digital-only comic book which ties-in with Chaos Theory and the Golden Age of Cybertron. The Transformers: Autocracy will debut in an iPad or other digital device next to you in January 2012.
Chris Metzen and Flint Dille are joining to write this digital comic book and artist Livio Ramondelli is on board.
As you may have read a few days ago, Flint Dille is also helping Chris Metzen to write Diablo III: Book of Cain.
This is a very interesting development and a very critical friendship going on between Metzen and Dille. Taking a look at the wikipedia entry of Flint Dille — he’s a close friend of Frank Miller (300, Holy Terror), who has ties with Legendary Pictures. Flint Dille also co-authored a script with Gary Gygax for a Dungeons & Dragons film that never made it to the big screen, and he’s a video games writer and film screenwriter … hmm … and he’s co-writing the official Diablo III lore sourcebook …
Now I don’t want to get started with those dreadful speculation mills, but … oh heck let’s do it: Diablo film? Alright nevermind that. [You didn’t hear A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G-!]
Watch Chris Metzen talking about The Transformers: Autocracy Digital Comics during the BotCon 2011 held through June 2-5, 2011 at Pasadena, California. Chris Metzen is definitely more than meets the eye.
Well, that’s odd. A good odd.
Hah, wow, that’s interesting. In addition to being a huge Blizzard fan I’m also a huge transformers fan (it’s why I rolled druid all that time ago).
One interesting thing is that Simon Furman, the man who wrote a lot of the recent Starcraft comics, is well known for his work on Transformers. Maybe Furman, in addition to Dillie, had something to do with this.
