The Dark Portal

Warchief’s Command Board: Speak with Archmage Khadgar at the foot of the Dark Portal in Blasted Lands.

(Speak with Archmage Khadgar: 0/1)

Archmage Khadgar, hero of the Second War, is assembling a coalition of Azeroth’s strongest to bravely step through the Dark Portal and stop the Iron Horde’s invasion of Azeroth.

Champions who are interested in glory can meet Khadgar at the base of the Dark Portal in Blasted Lands.

Safety not guaranteed.

(The archmage focuses intently on the portal.)

Look. Their numbers are abating, however briefly. This may be our chance.

Are you prepared to face whatever’s on the other side of that portal?

(Cinematic plays)

Khadgar: Looks to me like we ended up in the right place.

The Dark Portal – Tips

After installing the Warlords of Draenor expansion, if you do not want to do the Iron Horde Invasion quests, just go to the Warchief’s Command Board or the equivalent in Stormwind to grab The Dark Portal quest.

If you would rather want to do the Iron Horde Invasion quests (abandon The Dark Portal quest or you won’t be able to get the follow up).

Once you are ready for The Dark Portal, take the Blasted Lands portal near Khadgar (either in Orgrimmar, Stormwind or Vale of Eternal Blossoms city) to start the in-game cinematic and get teleported to Old Draenor’s The Dark Portal.

At that point, you won’t be able to return to Azeroth for a while, so make sure to grab some food, water, bandages, potions, etc. or settle your Auction House, and Mailbox stuff before coming to Draenor.
