Ick and Krick are the second boss encounter within the Pit of Saron, the east-wing of the Icecrown Citadel dungeon. Krick is a leper gnome mounting Ick, a undead plague-eruptor orc.

This event has two possible attack setups. There is a chance that the next time you fight him, he will have a different special attack setup. One of these:

  • Pursuit Confusion
  • Explosive Barrage

The boss event lasts approximately 1:20 minutes depending on the group’s gear level and overall DPS.  The Pursuit Confusion works like Little Red Hood in Karazhan. Ick will choose one target that immediately gets a flashing red bullseye mark on the chest area. That person needs to run away for 10 seconds.

In the video, I don’t run on purpose to show you exactly what happens if you don’t run. Ick’s melee swing hit me three times for 6713 – 10967 Physical damage.  His melee swing hits triple the normal damage to the person that has the Pursuit debuff.

The other special attack is named Explosive Barrage.  Basically you will see the leper gnome casting purple rays at everyone in the group. Below you three or more arcane orbs start growing. This is a sign that you must run away and stay clear as fast as you can from all these orbs.

In the normal-mode each arcane orb deals 3000 Arcane damage. In Heroic-mode, they do 6000 Arcane damage.  If you get hit by three arcane orbs that’s a massive 18,000 damage. Be careful.

After Ick dies, a little RPG plays out with Krick begging for his life.  Lady Jaina Proudmoore (Alliance) or Lady Sylvanas Windrunner (Horde) will appear to reply.  There is a big secret he reveals partially.  Arthas doesn’t always carry Frostmourne with him, as everyone thought.

Arthas has a secret.  For some reason, he keeps Frostmourne in the Hall of Reflection.

Read the boss abilities and HD video after the break.

BOSS ABILITIES

KRICK

Melee Swing: 2691 – 3528 Physical

Pustulant Flesh: It is a poison debuff that causes 1663 – 4852 Nature damage every 5 sec. Lasts 8 sec.

Explosive Barrage: Krick will cast this ability randomly. Purple rays touch every player for a few seconds. At least three purple arcane orbs spawns beneath you. You must run away from the orbs. The Exploding Orb’s Arcane Overload hits for 2100 – 3000 Arcane damage each. Many of these explode around players, thus it may kill a player already low in health. Be alert, once the orbs explode, more keep spawning for as long as Krick continues channeling his purple rays at you.

Toxic Waste: Krick throws a pool of green acid on the ground. Players standing on it are hit by 1678 – 3727 Nature Damage per tick for as long as they remain on the toxic waste area. Deals Nature damage every 2 sec. Move away from them, and you are fine.

ICK

Melee Swing: 2520 – 3090 Physical damage to tank. For non-tanks it hits by 4300 – 8102 Physical damage.

Poison Nova: This AOE causes 8400 – 12800 Nature damage to everyone in melee range. Players are affected by a debuff that causes 1258-1500 Nature damage per tick for 8 sec.

Mighty Kick: 2332 – 2543 Physical damage

Pursuit Confusion: It’s a debuff that lasts 10 sec. Ick starts chasing a single random player. If Ick reaches the player, he will melee swing for 6713 – 10967. (think of Little Red Hood in Karazhan’s Opera Hall)

LORE DIALOGUES

HORDE
Krick: Wait!  Stop! Don’t kill me, please!  I’ll tell you everything!

Lady Sylvanas Windrunner: Why should the Banshee Queen spare your miserable life?

Krick: What you seek is in the master’s lair, but you must destroy Tyrannus to gain entry.  Within the Halls of Reflection you will find Frostmourne.  It … it holds the truth.

Lady Sylvanas Windrunner: Frostmourne? The Lich King is never without his blade. If you are lying to me …

Krick: I swear it is true!  Please, don’t kill me!!

Scourgelord Tyrannus: Worthless gnat!  Death is all that awaits you!

Krick: Urg … no!

[Scourgelord Tyrannus casts strangulate on Krick, and finishes him off with Necromantic Power]

Scourgelord Tyrannus: Do not think that I shall permit you entry into my master’s sanctum so easily.  Pursue me if you dare.

[Scourgelord Tyrannus flies away on his frostwyrm]

Lady Sylvanas Windrunner: A fitting end for a traitor.  Come, we must free the slaves and see what is within the Lich King’s chamber for ourselves.

Scourgelord Tyrannus: Your pursuit shall be in vain, intruders, for the Lich King has placed an army of undead at my command!  Behold!

ALLIANCE

Krick: Wait!  Stop! Don’t kill me, please!  I’ll tell you everything!

Lady Jaina Proudmoore: I’m not so naive to believe your appeal for clemency, but I will listen.

Krick: What you seek is in the master’s lair, but you must destroy Tyrannus to gain entry.  Within the Halls of Reflection you will find Frostmourne.  It … it holds the truth.

Lady Jaina Proudmoore: Frostmourne lies unguarded?  Impossible!

Lady Jaina Proudmoore: What a cruel end.  Come, heroes.  We must see if the gnome’s story is true. If we can separate Arthas from Frostmourne, we might have a chance at stopping him.

Scourgelord Tyrannus: Your pursuit shall be in vain, intruders, for the Lich King has placed an army of undead at my command!  Behold![/
