The Hall of Thanes dungeon is located in Old Ironforge. You can navigate there through King Magni’s throne room in Ironforge. You have to descend around 3-4 floors through a spiral path, Blackrock Depths-style, until you reach the dungeon portal.
There are two quests outside the dungeon. One is a few yards from the dungeon portal, and another is all the way at the top of Ironforge — where Magni was crystallized.
There are two quests inside the dungeon. The quest titled “An Ancient Grudge” by the Ghostly Attendant is in area #2 (use the map image below as reference). The second quest, titled “Treaty of Understanding,” is at the end of the dungeon, when you open one of the many vaults near the boss Durgen Dirgehammer. The quest starts after clicking an ancient tablet held inside a vault. The turn-in NPC is King Magni Bronzebeard.
You need to complete a few quests from Beldin Steelgrill (/way 50.4 49.0), starting with “A Visitor to Dun Morogh.” Eventually, you get the quest “Nip ‘Em in the Bud,” which sends you to the southeastern area of Dun Morogh at the Ironband’s Compound. Kill the Iron Dwarves there until an item that starts a quest drops. Turn in the quest titled “Underground Map.”
