How to buy Severely Rusted Lockbox in 8.2 Nazjatar?

There is sort of a Murloc vendor game that rewards a Severely Rusted Lockbox (sold by Mrrl). This box contains a random loot table (updating soon what it contains).

Confirmed so far: Barnackled Lockbox (Requires Locksmithing x 600).

To start the game, you need first to unlock access to Mrrl. This is done by searching for his injured body at Dragon’s Teeth Basin (48.26 45.20). Start the quest A Safer Place.

UPDATE: This guide has been rendered inaccurate. I have discovered that today the requirements to buy Severely Rusted Lockbox can be (4) (2) (4). Next day, it might be (1) (2) (1), etc. There is a random-generated value system in place. Therefore, no guide can ever be made. Everyone has to spend several minutes with a calculator to figure out the values needed. I will leave the article as is so that at least you have an idea of how it works. Just don’t follow the instructions. It won’t work.

In that quest, you escort him back to Newhome (Horde) or Mezzamere (Alliance). Then when he settles at Newhome (46.97 61.56) or Mezzamere (39.17 54.41) do the follow up quest “No Backs.”

That way you familiarize with the 5 murlocs needed to obtain Severely Rusted Lockbox.

Severely Rusted Lockbox

The best way to do this game is to mark all 5 Murlocs with a Target Marker Icon by right-button clicking their portrait and choosing a marker from the dropdown menu:

  • Mrrl
  • Grrmrlg
  • Mrrglrlr
  • Hurlgrl
  • Flrgrrl

The cost of Severely Rusted Lockbox (from Mrrl) is 2 Sea Giant Foot Dust, 3 Smelly Pile of Goop, and 2 Extra-Slimey Snail.

To obtain each of these three currencies, you have to buy other items from each murloc vendor.

2 Sea Giant Foot Dust: Buy 36 Unidentified Mass from Flrgrrl. Then buy 6 Dirty Murloc Socks from Hurlgrl. Click all Dirty Murloc Socks to convert them to Clean Murlock Socks. Then buy 2 Sea Giant Foot Dust from Grrmrlg.

3 Smelly Pile of Goop: Buy 24 Sweet Sea Vegetable from Hurlgrl. Then buy 6 Just Regular Butter from Flrgrrl. Now you can buy 3 Smelly Pile of Goop from Mrrglrlr.

2 Extra-Slimey Snail: Buy 40 Sweet Sea Vegetable from Hurlgrl. Then buy 10 Disintegrating Sand Sculpture from Mrrglrlr. Now you can buy 2 Extra-Slimey Snail from Grrmrlg.

Once you have the 2 Sea Giant Foot Dust, 3 Smelly Pile of Goop, and 2 Extra-Slimey Snail — go to Mrrl and buy the Severely Rusted Lockbox.

NOTE: You can only buy 1 Severely Rusted Lockbox per day.
