INTERLUDE: THE WRECKAGE OF LORDAERON

Meanwhile… Back in Lordaeron, the Burning Legion commences its invasion…

YOUTUBE VIDEO

CUTSCENE

Tichondrius: Hail, mighty Mannoroth. How goes the invasion?

Mannoroth: Bah! These frail humans offer no real resistance.

Tichondrius: Then the Scourge did its job well, unlike some others I could name.

Mannoroth: Do not mock me, dreadlord. I am aware of the orcs’ failure. When I find them, I will discipline them myself!

Tichondrius: Yes, actually, that’s why I’ve come. I thought you might like to know that the orcs are no longer here.

Mannoroth: What? Are you certain?

Tichondrius: Certain as ever, Mannoroth. My agents, at least, are always dependable. They tell me that the orcs have landed on Kalimdor.

Mannoroth: Kalimdor? But what could they be — Bah! The orcs are mine by right, and I will claim them, wherever they choose to run!

Archimonde: And you are mine, Mannoroth! You would do well to remember that fact. We will watch the wayward orcs and wait. Despite their failure, they may still prove useful to us.

CRY OF THE WARSONG

Five days later, near the foothills of the Stonetalon Mountains…

CUTSCENE

Grunt: Warchief, we’ve been trudging through this wasteland for a week with nothing to fight but centaurs and pig-men! We need real enemies to test our mettle!

Thrall: Yes, boredom and the beating sun have put us all on edge. But we must push on! All will be made clear once we meet the Oracle.

Grunt: As you say, Warchief. Look! It’s the Warsong clan! And they’re battling humans!

Archmage: Wretched orcs! How dare you follow us to this land!

Grommash Hellscream: Save your breath, human! You’ll need it to scream when I start tearing off your limbs!

Thrall: What? Lok-Tar, warriors! Hellscream needs help!

Thrall: Hellscream, what was this about? And how the hell did these humans get here, anyway?

Grommash Hellscream: Same way we did, little brother. Apparently, a frail girl named Proudmoore leads them. Her forces have cordoned off the pass that leads to the north.

Thrall: Hmm. Well, we must make it through the pass, despite her. I’ll send our hunters to scout the area while we establish a base. Until then, the humans are not to be touched!

Grommash Hellscream: Whatever you say, Warchief.

MAIN QUEST

Establish a Base

  • Build a Great Hall
  • Thrall must survive

HINT – The War Mill serves as a drop-off point for harvested lumber, and contains weapon and armor upgrades for your units.

Send Thrall and the troops to kill this Berserk Wildkin level 8 and Enraged Wildkin level 6 (2). Drops Claws of Attack: Increases the attack damage of the Hero by 9 when worn.

Select Thrall and all your Troops and move to this spot. Sit there idle until you see Grommash Hellscream and his grunts moving to attack that Human Expedition base. Then attack that base together.

Set two peons to harvest wood and two to harvest gold.

Build a War Mill (M).

Build 2 Burrow (O).

Build a Grunt (G).

Send idle peons to harvest gold.

MAIN QUEST COMPLETED – Establish a Base

  • Return two Goblin Zeppelins to your base

Build a Peon (P).

HINT – Hellscream won’t survive on his own. Join him when he attacks the enemy.

Grommash Hellscream: I can wait no longer. The humans must be slaughtered!

Destroy both Watch Towers while Grommash and his grunts fight enemy units. Then assist Grommash. Focus any Priest if any appear. Then destroy the Barracks, then the Arcane Sanctum.

Grunt: Warchief, the Warsong clan is attacking the humans, despite your orders!

Thrall: Damn it! There’s nothing to do now but fight! Tighten our defenses! I’ll deal with Hellscream later.

Thrall: Perhaps this is our destiny… to go on fighting the humans forever.

NOTE: Usually, Grommash will attack the Gilneas Brigade base (north of the Warsong base). Usually, he destroys most of it by himself — but you can help him to wipe that base. The most vulnerable of the human bases is the one at the top-right corner of the map — which has no Hero.

Head north and go past the arch to kill two Centaur Impaler level 4 and three Centaur Archer level 2. Drops Potion of Healing: Heals 250 hit points when used.

Go north of that Centaur camp. You will encounter a larger group composed of a Centaur Khan level 8, Centaur Sorcerer level 5, Centaur Outrunner level 4, Centaur Impaler level 4, Centaur Drudge level 2, and a Centaur Archer level 2. The Khan will resurrect after his ankh falls to the ground. Build a Kodo Beast (K).

Select the Beastiary. Research Ensnare (N).

  • Harpy Queen level 7
  • Harpy Storm-hag level 5
  • Harpy Rogue level 3 (2)
  • Harpy Windwitch level 3
  • Harpy Scout level 1 (2)

They cast Faerie Fire, Sleep, and Cyclone. Drops Circle of Nobility: Increases the Strength, Agility and Intelligence of the Hero by 2 when worn.

Build a Headhunter (T).

If you see Grommash Hellscream attacking the Kul Tiras Elite Corps (top-right corner of the map) go assist.

Buy 2 Zeppelin (Z) from the Goblin Laboratory.

Send the two Zeppelin to your main base to complete the Quest. However, if you wish to complete the Optional Quest (to destroy all the human bases), don’t send the Zeppelins to your main base, yet — until you destroy all the human bases. Otherwise, proceed to complete the map’s mission.

MAIN QUEST COMPLETED – Secure Zeppelin

If you decide to go for the Optional Quest…

Build a Headhunter (T).

Build a new Great Hall at any of the enemy bases recently destroyed.

Build 2 Demolisher (D).

Send some of the Peons harvesting wood to the expansion gold mine to harvest gold.

Build a Kodo Beast (K).

Build a Headhunter (T).

Build a Burrow (O).

Build a Kodo Beast (K).

Build a Raider (R).

Send all new troops to assist Thrall. Destroy the remaining Human bases.

OPTIONAL QUEST COMPLETED – Pacify Humans

Send the two Zeppelins to the main base to finish the mission.

CUTSCENE

Thrall: With these, we can reach Stonetalon Peak by morning.

Grommash Hellscream: A true warrior would simply take the pass from the humans.

Thrall: Have you lost what’s left of your mind, Hellscream? I gave you a direct order to leave the humans alone! What the hell is wrong with you?

Grommash Hellscream: Don’t lecture me, pup! The wretches deserved death! Don’t you feel it, Thrall? It’s like the old days… like the demons are near.

Thrall: I don’t know what’s come over you and your men, but this bloodlust is a liability that I can’t afford.

Grommash Hellscream: I’m sorry, Thrall. You’re right. I… I can handle it.

Thrall: I can’t take that chance, Hellscream. Take your clan into the northern forest and build us a settlement. I’ll come and find you after we’ve reached the Oracle.
