CUTSCENE

Captain: This is a Light-forsaken land, isn’t it? You can barely even see the sun! This howling wind cuts to the bone and you’re not even shaking. Milord, are you alright?

Arthas: Captain, are all my forces accounted for?

Captain: Nearly. There are only a few ships that–

Arthas: Very well. Our first priority is to set up a base camp with proper defenses. There’s no telling what’s waiting for us out there in the shadows.


MAIN QUEST

Establish a Base Camp.

  • Find a gold mine
  • Arthas must survive

Note: The mini map flashes a green exclamation mark pointing to the location of the gold mine.


STRATEGY

On your way to the gold mine, you will start creeping. The first pack of wolves is south.

Go northeast for a pack of wolves. The Dire Frost Wolf level 6 drops Scroll of the Beast which adds 25% bonus damage to nearby units for 45 sec.

Go back south and follow the path east. You will encounter two Frost Wolf level 2.

Further to the east you will find an Ice Troll High Priest level 4 and an Ice Troll Berserker level 4.

To the north you will find a camp with an Ice Troll Warlord level 6, two Ice Troll Priest level 2, and an Ice Troll level 2. The Warlord drops Potion of Greater Healing (Restores 500 hit points) and the hut drops Potion of Mana (Restores 150 mana).

From there go northwest. At the deadend you encounter a Nerubian Spider Lord level 5, Nerubian Seer level 5, Nerubian Warrior level 3 and a Spiderling level 1. The lord drops Orb of Frost: Adds 6 bonus cold damage to the attack of a Hero when carried. The Hero’s attacks also become ranged when attacking air and slow the movement speed and attack rate of the enemy for 3 sec.

Go back to where you killed the Ice Trolls. To the right is a path that leads you to the gold mine. The screen goes black, and a cutscene plays automatically.


CUTSCENE

Arthas: Ah, a gold mine! We’ll set up our base there.

Arthas: We’re under attack! Take cover.

Muradin Bronzebeard: Bloody hell! You’re not undead! You’re all alive!

Arthas: Muradin? Muradin Bronzebeard, is that you?

Muradin Bronzebeard: Damn, boy. I never imagined that you’d be the one to come to our rescue!

Arthas: Rescue? Muradin, I didn’t even know you were here.

Muradin Bronzebeard: Oh. Just the same, lad, I could use your help. My mates and I were attacked, and we got separated. I’d appreciate any backup you could give me.

Arthas: Of course. I’ll help, Muradin. Let’s move!

Flying Machine – You may now build Flying Machines from the Workshop. They are fast moving flying machines, excellent at scouting and effective against air units.

Send a Peasant to repair the Flying Machine, the Watch Tower, Farm, and Barracks which are set on fire.

HINT – Use Peasants to Repair damaged Flying Machines.

Build a Peasant (P).

Build 2 Farms (F).

Build a Footman (F).

Build a Lumber Mill.

Build a Footman (F).

By now a wave of 4 Ghouls and a Necromancer approaches your main base from the west.

Select the Lumber Mill. Upgrade to Improved Masonry (M).

Send Arthas and Muradin and the troops through the path west. You will find an Ancient Wendigo level 9 and two Wendigo level 4 hidden in this area. The Ancient Wendigo will resurrect a few seconds later, and fight again. Kill it to loot a Belt of Giant Strength +6.

Build an Altar of Kings (A).

Build 2 Footmen (F).

Build a Farm (F).

Now go straight east. There is a pack of Ice Trolls here. The Ice Troll Warlord level 6 drops a Manual of Health. Make sure to pick it with Arthas. The tome permanently adds +50 hit points to Arthas.

Build 3 Peasants (P). Send them to harvest wood.

Select the Lumber Mill. Upgrade Improved Lumber Harvesting (L).

Build a Farm (F).

Build a Peasant (P).

Head north and kill the 2 Crypt Fiends and a Ghoul. Then destroy the Scourge buildings there.

Muradin Bronzebeard: That’s them! And they’re still under attack from the undead!

Arthas: Let’s move, men! Those dwarves need help!

Now head to the yellow exclamation mark shown in the mini map to the east. That Dwarven Base has a gold mine. Going here before you doing anything else is important because you get extra gold from the second mine, and you don’t have to build a Blacksmith or a Workshop. These buildings are already built up there.

Rescue Muradin’s Men


The Dwarven base has 3 Riflemen, 2 Mortar Teams, and 2 Flying Machines. It has a Barracks, a Blacksmith, Workshop, Keep, 4 Farms, and 2 Guard Towers. You can now build Flying Machine and Mortar Team at the Workshop.

Select the Keep at the new Dwarven base. Upgrade to Castle (U).

NEW UNIT AVAILABLE

Siege Engine – You may now build Siege Engines from the Workshop. They are heavily armored vehicles, effective at destroying buildings.

Note: The mini map flashes a green exclamation mark revealing the location of Mal’Ganis’ base.

Select the Workshop. Research Flare (R).

Select the Blacksmith. Upgrade to Black Gunpowder (G).

Build a Rifleman (R).

Build 3 Peasants (P).

Build 2 Rifleman (R).

Build a Farm (F).

Select the Lumber Mill. Upgrade to Advanced Masonry (M).

Build an Arcane Sanctum (R).

Select the Blacksmith. Upgrade to Iron Forged Swords (S).

Select the Blacksmith. Upgrade to Iron Plating (P).

Build a Mortar Team (M) at the Workshop.

Select the Barracks. Upgrade to Long Rifles (L).

Select the Barracks. Upgrade to Defense (D).

Build 2 Peasants (P). Send them to harvest wood.

Build 2 Priests (P).

Build 2 Peasants (P). Send them to harvest wood.

Send all your troops to attack the Undead Scourge base. Bring the Flying Machines to deal with the Gargoyles.

Arthas: All right, Muradin. What were you doing up here, anyway?

Muradin: Well, lad, there’s an ancient waygate that lies somewhere in this glacial wasteland. Supposedly, it transports you to a hidden vault where a runeblade named Frostmourne is held. We came here to recover Frostmourne, but the closer we came to finding the waygate, the more undead we encountered.

Captain: Prince Arthas, we haven’t found any trace of Mal’Ganis.

Arthas: No matter. He can’t hide from me forever. Captain, I want you to establish this site as our primary base.

Captain: Yes, milord.
