Two days later, along the borderlands of Ashenvale forest…

CUTSCENE

Grommash Hellscream: Damn Thrall for sending us away! He chooses to use his greatest warriors for manual labor? He’ll be lost without me.

Warsong Orc: Chieftain, there’s something strange about these woods. It’s too… quiet. Almost like we’re being watched.

Grommash Hellscream: Are you all afraid of spirits now? There is nothing here but ancient trees and shadow.

Warsong Orc: You hear that? This place is haunted! I fear no living enemy, but my axe cannot cleave fleshless spirits!

Grommash Hellscream: Still your tongue and get to work! The warchief’s new settlement will require a great deal of lumber. This section of foret must be cleared!

MAIN QUEST

Slash and Burn

  • Amass 15,000 lumber

STRATEGY

Kill all the Wisps by the trees within your main base, and wherever you see any.

NEW UNIT AVAILABLE

Shaman – You may now build Shaman from the Spirit Lodge. They are primary spellcasters and can initially cast Purge, which slows and dispels positive and negative buffs.

HINT – Construct additional War Mills near trees to increase the efficiency of your lumber harvesters.

Warsong Orc: Chieftain, we’re under attack!

Huntress: You were right, sisters. These green-skinned brutes have no respect for life! Slay them in Elune’s name!

Warsong Orc: Women. They’re women!

Grom Hellscream: Yes. They almost look like elves, but they’re far too tall, and far too savage.

HINT – Research Pillage at your Great Hall, it gives Peons, Grunts and Raiders the ability to gather resources by damaging enemy buildings.

Kill the two Archers guarding the Gold Mine just north of your main base.

Build a new Great Hall near this Gold Mine.

Build 4 Peons (P) and command them to harvest gold from the expansion Gold Mine.

Build 3 Burrow (O) near the expansion Great Hall — whenever it is attacked by Hyppogryph Riders, move your Peons inside the Burrows to kill them.

Kill all the Wisps around that gold mine.

Build a Headhunter (T).

Build a Kodo Beast (K).

Build a Shaman (S).

Grom Hellscream: Those dancing lights are strange. Perhaps they are the dread spirits that you’ve all been so afraid of?

Attack this small Night Elven outpost. There are two Archers, two Huntress, and a Glaive Thrower. Destroy the Tree of Life.

Select the Barracks. Research Troll Regeneration (R).

Warsong Orc: Chieftain, that great tree pulses with magic! We should keep our distance!

Grom Hellscream: Bah! Am I surrounded only by cowards? It’s a tree, like any other! Cut it down!

A TREE OF LIFE HAS BEEN DESTROYED

  • 3000 lumber pillaged

Grom Hellscream: You see? The great tree provided us with an abundance of lumber! If we find anymore, then we’ll hack them apart as well!

OPTIONAL QUEST

Destroy Trees of Life

  • Destroy the Trees of Life

South of the Tree of Life, there is a hidden treasure chest that contains Boots of Speed: Increases the movement speed of the Hero when worn. It is guarded by three invisible Forest Spirit level 6.

Warsong Orc: Chieftain, the warrior women have returned on flying beasts!

Grom Hellscream: They won’t last long after our wolf riders have ensnared them!

ENSNARE AVAILABLE

The Raider’s Ensnare allows you to drag enemy air units to the ground.

From where you killed the Tree of Life, go west. There is a Gold Mine guarded by a Dark Troll Warlord level 6, Dark Troll Shadow Priest level 2 (2), and Dark Troll level 2 (2) — drops Potion of Greater Healing: Heals 500 hit points when used; and a Gold Coin (250g). Destroy the huts — one drops Healing Salve: Regenerates a target unit’s hit points by 400 over 45 sec when used. Contains 3 charges.

Build a Great Hall at the Gold Mine where the Dark Trolls were (bottom-middle of the mini map).

Build 4 Peons (P) and command them to harvest gold from the expansion Gold Mine.

Build 3 Burrow (O) near the expansion Great Hall — whenever it is attacked, move your Peons inside the Burrows to kill them.

Note: Head north of your main base. There is a Goblin Merchant and a Goblin Laboratory. However, in order to buy from them you need to complete a quest given by a Sapper named Neeloc Greedyfingers.

CUTSCENE

Neeloc Greedyfingers: Ah, greetings, good orc. Strange to see one of you in these parts.

Grom Hellscream: We are here to cut lumber, little goblin.

Neeloc Greedyfingers: Hmm. Well, there’s this tribe of bear men, called furbolgs, in this region that’s been giving us trouble. If you kill the chieftain, we’ll sell our goods to you at cost. We might even let you borrow a few shredders!

Grom Hellscream: Hmm. I’ll consider it.

OPTIONAL QUEST

Furbolg Chieftain

  • Slay the Furbolg Chieftain

Select the War Mill. Upgrade Steel Melee Weapons (M).

Select the second War Mill. Upgrade Steel Ranged Weapons (R).

Send Grom and the troops straight west (from the goblins).

Grab this Tome of Agility: Permanently increases Agility by 1. It is guarded by three invisible Forest Spirits level 6.

From there, go southwest to kill a Furbolg Elder Shaman level 7 and four Furbolg level 4. The shaman drops a Gold Coin (250g).

Grom Hellscream: Hmm. They must be the furbolgs the goblin spoke of. This will be a worthy battle!

A few yards north of those furbolgs is the Furbolg Chieftain and two Furbolg level 4 — drops Health Stone: Increases the life regeneration rate of the Hero by 1 hit points per sec when worn. Can be consumed for 500 health.

OPTIONAL QUEST UPDATE

  • Slay the Furbolg Chieftain (Completed)
  • Return to Neeloc Greedyfingers for your reward

Send Grom and the Troops back to the goblins to turn in the quest.

Select the Barracks. Research Troll Regeneration (R).

Select the War Mill. Upgrade Thorium Unit Armor (A).

Build a Shaman (S).

Build a Demolisher (D).

As soon as you have all your new units joined with your troops, assault the last night elves base: The Moonhunters (top-left corner of the mini map).

You don’t have to destroy the entire base (likely). The Tree of Life will grant 3000 wood — which should be enough to complete the 15000 required by the quest.

MAIN QUEST COMPLETED
